So, I was not hopeful but, after restarting the computer, it appears that all of the issues reported at the top of this thread have been reolved. After the third process in the Live Update status report changed from "Installing 17/17" to "Completed," NIS 2014 unexpectedly exited/closed itself exactly as it had done when the issue appeared. The update was 20+ MB and 17 of 17 items where updated. So, ran LiveUpdate for the first time since running NRnR tool a couple days ago. Saw in other threads that apparently the issue had been fixed. Also, after running the NRnR tool, the LiveUpdate button says Last Update was 1 day ago, so there is no immediate need to run LiveUpdate.yet. However, I have not run LiveUpdate after running the NRnR tool.waiting to see what Norton does about the issue. The point here is that there is no reasonable reason (except false advertising) that NIS2014 should not run on this system.īTW F4E, the NRnR tool suggestion worked.

Needless to say, the MSI KT6Delta LSR mobo computer also meets the Windows XP System Requirements.

The MSI KT6Delta LSR mobo computer passed (I repeat passed) each test in the System section of the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. One section is System, which reports on CPU, RAM, and HDD. Also, the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor Report has sections.
HOWEVER.The MSI KT6Delta LSR mobo computer meets the NIS2014 System Requirements. Therefore, it seems likely that the NIS LiveUpdate issues mentioned at the top of this thread is more likely a old hardware issue, not a Windows XP issue per say. Third, my other 7 computer which has newer hardware is not experiencing the NIS LiveUpdate issues mentioned at the top of this thread. This is likely because few if any are running Windows 7 on this older hardware. Second, few if any other Windows 7 users are experiencing the NIS LiveUpdate issues mentioned at the top of this thread. This hardware is from approx 2003, which corresponds to XP.
This mobo has a VIA KT600 chipset which accepts AMD Athlon XP CPUs. First, the computer running 7 mentioned at the top of this thread has a MSI KT6Delta LSR mobo. It looks like the NIS LiveUpdate issue is an old hardware issue. Thanks for the response F4E and PinguJohn. Just wanted to let you know that what other people are reporting for XP is also happening on 7. The important part is that the update was successful including through the point of saying "Completed" for each of the three stages, then NIS 2014 automatically closed/exited itself, including the notification area icon disappearing. Click to expand.I have experienced Nvidia Inspector not working sometimes depending on driver - or, rather more specifically certain features "breaking" from time to time.įor example awhile back when I was gaming on an older laptop, I would use Inspector to enable Half-Refresh V-Sync then use RTSS to get a more "console-like" 30 fps experience (there's a blur buster guide for all that), but for certain drivers the half-refresh v-sync was just broken and would literally require me to clean install the driver every time I wanted to launch a game or it wouldn't work - was very very weird, but it works nowadays.
